Cats!

The theme of today was cats! I did two tutorials. They were both listed as cartoon cats, but one is slightly more realistic. I got my six-year-old to draw with me again, his drawings are included below, too.
I was very happy with the results! I consider them both successes, even though they aren't very close to the originals. I noticed I have a problem with keeping the eyes symmetrical. One is always bigger and they are constantly not in line with each other. I plan on trying to use more guides until I get better. (Do professionals still use guides?) Also, I need to work on perfecting my cat-nose technique!
I feel like I'm getting a little more comfortable with the movement of the pencil to make the fur effect. I'm considering buying a blue pencil, a lot of the tutorials I see they use a blue pencil to do a light outline and go over that after with either darker pencil or a pen. If I do, it won't be for a week or so, at least.
